6th International Cryo‑EM Image Analysis Symposium: Highlights from Lake Tahoe

The 6th International Cryo‑EM Symposium (6th International Conference on Three‑Dimensional Cryo‑EM Image Analysis) was held March 18–21, 2026, at the Granlibakken Conference Center in Lake Tahoe, California. Organized by the Scintillon Research Institute, the biennial meeting brought together international experts in cryo‑EM and cryo‑ET for focused, highly interactive discussions on advances in image analysis, automation, modeling and validation, tomogram segmentation, and deep‑learning–based methods.

The program emphasized discussion and community exchange, featuring extended scientific sessions, poster presentations with selected short talks, and a keynote by Professor Bridget Carragher (Chan Zuckerberg Initiative). Presentations by Dr. Dorit Hanein and Dr. Niels Volkmann, both adjunct affiliates of Scintillon, further contributed to the open and collaborative atmosphere that has long defined this symposium series.

This conference is part of a long‑standing biannual series, with recent iterations hosted primarily by the Scintillon Research Institute, helping sustain a uniquely interactive forum dedicated to advancing cryo‑EM image analysis and methodology development.

We gratefully acknowledge the 2026 sponsors for their generous support: Thermo Fisher Scientific, JEOL, Agouron Institute, and MiTeGen.
